We’re going to say it right from the get go: when it comes to budget shared hosts, you’ll find it very difficult to find better value than Web Hosting Pad. While the server specs aren’t top of the line nor will you find your sites running like lightning, this host is ideal for small sites that don’t need much in terms of resources.
We give Web Hosting Pad a 5/5. Considering its excellent pricing (amongst the cheapest we’ve seen for shared hosting), great support, and respectable technical specs we don’t have any reservations about recommending the service. Find out why in our full Web Hosting Pad review below.
Who is Web Hosting Pad For?
Web Hosting Pad is clearly a budget option – it’s a good choice for someone who is running several small business websites or a collection of niche sites. Running a website that gets thousands upon thousands of hits daily and is a resource-intensive heavy hitter? Then you should probably look for a VPS or dedicated server elsewhere.
Pros and Cons
One of the major draws of Web Hosting Pad is the bottom of the barrel prices. The company sometimes runs limited-time offers where you can get your hands on a basic account for just a couple of dollars per month. We have literally not found anywhere that does this any cheaper, unless you’re talking about a dodgy reseller operating out of a basement somewhere.
And considering these low prices, we were astounded to find that the company runs US-based support 24×7. So yes, you can literally call or live chat with someone who is sitting in an office in the United States anytime you want – no more dealing with outsourced support teams that waste your valuable time. This benefit is almost worth more than the server’s technical specs.
The downside you may find with Web Hosting Pad is that once your site starts to hit the big time, you may find that things will start slowing down a bit. Remember that you’re on a shared server and resources are limited. However, this is a luxury problem – if you’re getting that many hits on a daily basis, you can probably afford to pack up your tent and move to a dedicated solution elsewhere.
Web Hosting Pad runs two packages: the standard Power Plan and Power Plan Plus. The standard option comes with unlimited disk space, bandwidth, domains, emails, and MySQL databases. You also get the familiar cPanel with every account, as well as 1-click installs for popular content management systems such as Drupal and WordPress.
Should you decide to go the next level up with the Plus plan, you’ll get everything from the basic as well as SSH access, an SSL certificate, advanced spam filter and web stats, as well as security scans that are a notch above the average. If you’re a developer who needs server access, this is the plan for you.
Depending on how long you decide to sign up for, you can get hosting for as little as $1.99 a month. The most expensive plan that has all of the bells and whistles attached is only $6.99, so you’ll never be paying a fortune.
