The gold industry standard for web hosting and best all around platform. BlueHost has a good price, top quality customer service and an easy to use interface. They also make it incredibly easy to scale up your hosting package to meet the demands of a growing website. Overall rating 4.9/5 stars.
2.) HostGator – Read our full review
A close second to BlueHost, HostGator is also well known for being user friendly with a wide variety of available hosting packages that make it easy to start there as a beginner and grow your website into a powerhouse. Hostgator used to standout above the pack because of their customer service but with increased popularity they now have longer wait times which is the main reason they have fallen behind BlueHost. Overall rating is 4.75/5 stars.
3.) FatCow – Read our full review
FatCow is a green hosting provider and environmentally friendly company. They also focus on just shared web hosting packages making them a great home for beginners with smaller websites. If you’re looking to have one of the worlds largest blogs than FatCow won’t be the best fit but they have high marks across the board when it comes to everything small to medium size website owners care about. Overall rating is 4.5/5 stars.
Cheapest Web Hosting Providers
1.) IPage – Read Our Full Review
IPage generally gets high ratings from users when it comes to upload time, consistency & customer service. What makes them stand out the most though is their price. They often offer deals for as low as $1.50 to $2.00 a month. IPage has a few manual difficulties when it comes to things like adding multiple websites which make us caution recommending them to beginners.

Similar to IPage, IPower offers extremely good monthly rates while still having a consistent level of quality. I’d most recommend IPower to those looking for a good deal or to those who own a lot of websites and want to spread them out over multiple hosting providers.
Best Web Hosting for Beginners

BlueHost is our #1 most recommended hosting platform overall and part of the reason for that is how great they are for beginner website owners. They have the most intuitive interface, superb customer service and fantastic tutorial articles & videos that can help you learn your way around your hosting platform.
2.) DreamHost – Read our full review
DreamHost is making a big push to beat out the competition when it comes to easy use and customer service. They offer easy 1 click installs of popular blogging platforms like WordPress making it easy for a beginner without technical know how to quickly setup their blog. 
3.) HostGator – Read our full review
HostGator used to be renowned for having the best customer service. While the quality of service remains extremely high the wait times to get someone on the phone or chat have increased which is why they have been moved to #3 for the best option for beginners. Their user interface is stronger than most companies but not quite as good as BlueHost and DreamHost. I still highly recommend HostGator though and have used them longer than any other hosting platform.
Best Green Web Hosting
1.) FatCow – Read our full review
FatCow is ranked #3 for our overall best hosting providers so it’s no surprise that they top the list as your best green hosting option. FatCow has great prices, strong customer service and a solid user interface. They don’t experience many problems with down time or upload speed. The only negative to FatCow is they only offer shared hosting so if you’re site may one day need its own server then FatCow isn’t the provider for you.

GreenGeeks is another strong entrant into the environmentally friendly hosting field. As a smaller company they can afford to be more attentive to your needs and requests. Their prices and packages are reasonable but their have been a few complaints with some of their domain practices which you can read more about in the review linked to above.
