About Us

Why We Need a New Website

Change is happening at a rapid pace for early childhood education and care (also known as day care, child care, FFN (family friend, and neighbor), preschool, school readiness, head start, early childhood family education, etc.). Our small organization has a web site that needs to be updated to be user friendly, interactive, and a voice of communities of color. We want to be able to communicate with parents and providers with regular thought provoking updates to bring them detailed messages that will support the children in their lives. We want our web site to be a site that raises questions not being discussed in the main stream. We want to bring an awareness of current research and information that affects the development of children and inform us of the best ways to support their development. We have a need to keep parents and providers up to date on system changes that affect families. We want to build on our reputation of diverse cultural representation by allowing community people to share what is affecting children in their lives. We want it to be user friendly for the staff also, so we can add weekly messages and resource information.

ECRTC is a wonderful group of people that are very in tune with the surrounding communities need and what they are not receiving. By being culturally sensitive and making their services accessible to many communities who have cultural and language barriers or that are just under-represented,they are ensuring that the children of these communities will have the same care and opportunities that others do.ECRTC is very aware of the fact that early childhood care and education is important for the future of these and all communities. ECRTC needs and deserves a new website so that up to date information can be shared with others. A more interactive site would be great for the people using or looking into the services offered as well as for donors and employees to be more up to date with what is going on.

People who pursue the field of childcare do a very unselfish thing, because the work of childcare already does not get the credit it deserves. Of all the many vocations there are that make the world go around, shoudn't early human development and fluency have a higher priority than it does today? If we can provide better ways to help them connect and access the great information landscape, we're telling them that their work is important and not overlooked in the big scheme of things.

ECRTC is a great organization. They provide support and training in the field of early education, what is more important than that? The have helped my organization train our childcare providers and assisted us in desgining a training schedule. This organization deserves a new website so they can better serve people who are so valuable-those who care for young children.

ECRTC has been of paramount importance in the Twin Cities for well over two decades. Children are the most important resource for the future. Providing good early childhood education is vital. This organization does wonderful work by training people in the childcare field that would otherwise not receive further education. ECRTC is a remarkable organization that truly serves populations that are in need. The Twin Cities, and the United States in general, lack groups that focus on early childhood development and training of childcare providers. The work that ECRTC does is so crucial for the future, but it remains often overlooked and undervalued.

ECRTC is a authentic representation of an indiscriminate organization which tirelessly remains committed to the premier and comprehensive service of all. Restricted resources, or even the complete lack thereof, does not curtail their commitment and efforts to provide stellar service. These are merely a few of the invaluable standards they continuously adhered to, making them of optimal qualifications to become the recipients of this gift, representing much well overdue acknowledgment and support.

These people do amazing work. Kids are so important. Providing them with good childcare and resources so they grow up to be healthy, happy and productive adults should be important to everyone. ECRTC really needs a new website, one that's easy to use, up to date, and my suggestion would be that it be in multiple languages - they serve an incredibly diverse population in the Twin Cities and could reach more people.

This is an amazing chance for ECRTC! A new website could do so much for this organization. They do really important work for diverse communities, with a focus on early childhood development. They work to make sure children recieve quality childcare and skills that will enable them for sucess in school. More importance needs to be placed on children, so they have a chance to succeed... and so they are better equipped to look after the rest of us when we grow older.

Our Mission

ECRTC is committed to children and families "challenging communities to embrace the healthy development of children". ECRTC provides services that enable providers and families to succeed in ways that are empowering and culturally sensitive. We have Impact Entry Level training for parents, FFN (Family Friend and Neighbor) providers, and child care center staff. We also have a Home Visiting Program for FFN providers, CDA (Child Development Associate) classes, a national certification training for early childhood assistants and teachers, Building Cultural Connections classes, and Cultural Leadership Models. We educate parents and providers in under-represented communities. We advocate for communities of color, challanging policies for change, and emphasizing the importance of community access. We work to build leaders at the community level for the youngest children. We believe this work does make a difference for children birth to school age, so they have care and education that will enhance their development supported by cultural understanding, nurturing relationships, literacy development, and school readiness success, because their parents and providers are being supported and professionally trained through our organization. We offer our classes in community locations for easier access, in response to requests by providers, leaders, parents, other community organizations, and places of worship.
