Our Mission
OWL is the only grassroots organization to focus on winning economic, health and social equity for women as they age. Average income for older women is one-half that of older men, resulting from discriminatory cultural bias such as uncompensated care giving. Established in 1980, OWL uses patience, vision, and experience to further long-term social change through research, advocacy and education. OWL spearheaded COBRA legislation and widow's access to pension income, and universal health care insurance has been on the agenda since 1980.OWL advocates
